Overnight Street Lighting
Overview
Essex County Council (ECC) is responsible for the provision of the majority of street lighting across Castle Point. In February 2014, ECC decided to switch street lighting off across the county between the hours of midnight and 5am (later revised to between 1am and 5am).
If the residents of Castle Point decide they want the street lights to be kept on all night, Castle Point Borough Council will work with ECC to re-introduce nighttime lighting across the Borough between the hours of 1am to 5am, with the Borough funding the costs incurred during those hours.
