Canvey Seafront Bathing Water Consultation
Overview
Castle Point Borough Council is inviting residents to take part in a public consultation regarding its application for official bathing water status for Canvey seafront.
The proposed bathing water area stretches from the Canvey Island Town Council sea pool through to and including Thorney Bay.
If the application is successful, the Environment Agency will monitor water quality on Canvey Island between 15 May and 30 September each year. This includes:
- Identifying pollution sources
- Recommending improvements
- Classifying the water annually as excellent, good, sufficient, or poor
The Council will also be responsible for displaying signage during the bathing season to inform the public about water quality, pollution incidents, and any potential risks.
This consultation is open from 19 August to 30 September 2025.
We want to hear your views to support our application and ensure Canvey seafront remains safe, clean, and enjoyable for everyone.
